Imagine ..... a better city, a better agriculture, a better life
The world is urbanizing. In the next few years more than half the world population will be living in cities. Many of these cities are typical Delta metropoles usurping the space most suited for agricultural production.
China is a case in point: their cities are expanding in precisely these areas most suited for agriculture.
In this struggle for space, agriculture will always lose out. And so, while the country's quantitative and qualitative demand for food is rapidly growing, the productivity of agriculture lags behind.
Shanghai came up with a visionary view: creating an ecological world near it's city center. The Dongtan Ecocity is being developed on Chongming Island. Part of this Ecocity is a 27km2 Agro park: Greenport Shanghai high tech and ecological production, providing safe and high quality food.
